Garden in June

In June, the ovaries of the fruits of the upcoming harvest are formed, during this period it is especially important to give the trees and bushes enough moisture to prevent shedding of the ovaries. In dry weather, the garden is watered, the approximate rate is 2-4 buckets for a young tree and more than 10 buckets for an adult fruit-bearing tree. The soil should be soaked to a depth of at least 50 cm. It is possible to determine whether a tree has enough water by its young growth: if by the end of June the young shoots have grown by no more than 20 cm, then the tree clearly lacks moisture and nutrition. Normally, during the first summer month, they should grow about 50 cm long.

In June, the garden is fed with liquid solutions of organic or mineral fertilizers, the young shoots appearing at the base of the trunks are regularly cut out. Weeds are regularly removed in unmulched near-stem circles so that they do not have time to set seeds. They can be left there and left until complete decomposition - there will be mulch and organic matter.

Remember: the most moisture-loving culture among berry bushes is black currant, it must be watered in drought, otherwise the fruits will be small and not so tasty. It is very useful to mulch the soil around the berry bushes with a thick layer of humus: this will prevent rapid evaporation of moisture and serve as additional feeding.

At the end of June, in warm weather, garden strawberries begin to ripen. At this time, her whips with daughter sockets are actively growing. They need to be cut off, leaving only the required amount for reproduction. As a rule, the strongest are left - the first and second sockets. Under fruit-bearing bushes, the soil can be mulched with straw, sawdust or covered with a black film. These measures will help prevent weeds and help you get clean and healthy strawberries.

Raspberries are fed with fertilizer solutions before flowering. Until the middle of the month, pinch the tops of young shoots that have reached a height of at least 70 cm to cause branching. As a result, several lateral shoots appear at the top, which will contribute to an increase in the yield of the next year.

Throughout the month, it is necessary to monitor the state of the garden - whether pests and diseases have appeared, it is necessary to check the trapping belts on the boles of fruit trees. Falling ovaries must be collected and destroyed: they are usually affected by the moth. Branches of currants and gooseberries affected by powdery mildew must be cut off and destroyed immediately. But if the disease has spread greatly, then suitable drugs are used (the choice in stores is now wide enough).

Vegetable garden in June

The warmth and the sun were delighted not only by summer residents, but also by weeds, which grow inexorably faster than cultivated plants. Therefore, one of the main concerns of the garden in June is weeding. Periodic loosening of the soil in the beds will retain moisture, saturate the soil with air and help destroy weeds at the earliest stage of their growth.

The weather at the beginning of the month is still unstable; recurrent cold weather is not excluded. In case of night frosts, do not forget to cover the strawberries, soil or cover the seedlings and seedlings of vegetables and potatoes. In the absence of rain, it is imperative to water the vegetable crops, alternating watering with top dressing. With the help of appropriate drugs, if necessary, it is necessary to combat pests and diseases.

The potatoes are spud up as soon as they reach a height of 15-20 cm, and they can be completely covered with soil. The resulting ridges are well warmed up by the sun, and the potatoes then begin to grow very quickly: after 2-3 days, powerful thick stems and leaves appear from the ground.

If a Colorado potato beetle appears in your area, you need to wage a merciless fight with it. If you have few beds with potatoes, it is quite possible to do with manual collection and destruction of the beetle and its larvae, if the plantings are extensive, you will have to use drugs.

In the first half of the month, when the threat of frost passes, thermophilic crops (zucchini, pumpkin, melons, watermelons, cucumbers, tomatoes), seedlings of late varieties of cabbage are planted in open ground, seeds of winter radish, beets and carrots intended for winter storage are sown.

Greenhouses have their own worries. On the tomato bushes, the appearing stepchildren are carefully cut off (depending on the variety, of course), two or three times a month they feed young plants with organic matter or mineral fertilizers. Now you need to water them infrequently, about once a week, but abundantly so that the moisture penetrates the soil deep enough. This will promote the development of a deep and strong root system.

Lunar sowing calendar of the gardener and gardener for June

Cucumbers require special attention. On the beds, when 5-6 leaves appear, you need to pinch the growth point in order to stimulate the formation of lateral shoots bearing much more female-type flowers. If there is a strong growth of lashes and foliage, then the extra side shoots are cut out or shortened. Cucumber roots are sensitive to excessive soil moisture and low temperatures, root rot may develop. To prevent this from happening, it is necessary to keep the soil loose. But often it is impossible to loosen with a hoe, because the roots of the cucumber are superficial and easily damaged.

The best option is to mulch the soil with compost, sawdust or even cut grass. If the soil is dense, the roots are suffocating without air, you need to make punctures in it with a pitchfork to a depth of at least 15 cm.

Note! In damp weather, pollen from cucumbers becomes sterile (pollen grains crack ahead of time), female flowers do not fertilize and fall off. To avoid this, when growing in open ground, a bed with cucumbers should be covered with a film, and during the day it should be slightly opened for insect access.

In warm favorable weather, pumpkin lashes grow strongly. It is necessary to pinch them in time so that the set fruits fully ripen.

Onions and garlic, when feathers grow up to 5-10 cm, experienced gardeners advise watering with salt water (10 liters of water - 100 g of salt) to fight the onion fly. The bed is first watered with clean water, then with a saline solution under the root. Such treatments are carried out up to three times with an interval of 10 days. At the end of the month, arrows already appear in winter garlic, which should be carefully broken out. In general, onions and garlic work very well when grown in ridges 15-20 cm high.

Just at the beginning of June, you can huddle the outlined rows, transforming them into ridges. The ridges are well warmed up by the sun, ventilated, and the onion grows large and healthy.

Flower garden in June

At the beginning of June, the planting of seedlings of annuals, dahlias tubers is finished. At the same time, caring for ornamental plants, as usual, consists of removing weeds, watering, fertilizing, loosening the soil. Fertilizers can be used both organic and special - flower, by introducing them under the root.

At the beginning of the month, it is necessary to feed all perennials and ornamental shrubs, nevertheless, now they have the most intense growth, requiring increased nutrition. By the way, during this period there is a massive appearance of aphids and leaf-eating caterpillars, for the destruction of which appropriate preparations are used.

In June, it's time to mow lawns, trim hedges and ornamental shrubs to form a crown. In grafted plants, the emergence of root growth is monitored in order to immediately cut it out at the very base. For lush bushes of peonies, decorative fences are erected. Growing climbing plants, shoots of clematis, climbing and climbing roses are tied up.

For summer flowers, June is a time of rapid growth, and for spring flowers, it is a time of retirement. At the end of the month, when the leaves turn yellow, tulips and hyacinths are dug up. The bulbs are placed to dry in a warm, well-ventilated area.

Small-bulbous flowers (muscari, crocuses, galanthuses, etc.) and daffodils do not require annual digging. But their overgrown nests are divided and the bulbs are planted in a new place.

Home greenhouse in June

For indoor plants, walks in the fresh air and even a complete relocation to loggias, balconies, to the garden are still relevant, if warm weather has finally established. At the beginning of summer, the most intensive growth of plants takes place, in the rhizomes and bulbs a supply of nutrients is deposited for the winter. It is in the summer that flower buds are laid on plants blooming in winter and early spring (cyclamens, amaryllis, hippeastrum, camellia, etc.).

Fresh air, abundant watering and regular feeding are now very useful: beautifully flowering crops need sunlight to form flower buds, water and mineral salts are consumed by them in increased quantities. But in cold rainy weather, watering and feeding is reduced. Faded flowers must be removed in a timely manner to stimulate long-term flowering.

Plants with decorative leaves are useful to expose under warm summer rain or regularly spray with warm boiled water

Try to inspect your indoor greenhouse more often, as many pests are at their peak. If indoor plants are not on the street, this does not mean that, for example, aphids will not reach them. And what about open vents and balconies? And the bouquets brought in and brought from summer cottages and meadows? All these are channels for intruders to enter the house, against which you need to take effective measures in time.

Garden care

May, the blooming month of spring, the ancient Slavs called "Yarets" (in honor of the deity of fertility Yarilo). He also had nicknames: "protalnik", "grass", "pollen", "grass". The month got its modern name from the Latin word - "mayus" - from the ancient Roman goddess of nature Maya. In Russia they loved this month, because it was not for nothing that they put down such "warm" proverbs about it: "May - the whole year paradise", "May - nightingale summer".

  • Site planning, creation of the required relief. In the simplest case - leveling the surface of the earth, observing a small angle of inclination of the entire site - for better water drainage. In case of difficult terrain, more extensive earthwork and possibly the construction of retaining walls may be required.
  • Drainage device.
  • Laying of communications (for lighting, irrigation, etc.).
  • Construction works: construction of paths, sites, laying of foundations of small architectural forms, the beginning of the construction of reservoirs, streams, waterfalls.

In May, the shoots frozen in winter are already clearly visible, they should be tried to be cut off before flowering, and sections with a diameter of more than 1 cm are carefully covered with garden var. The soil in the near-trunk circles and under the berry bushes must be loosened to a depth of 10 cm and mulched. Plants and fertilizing with nitrogen fertilizers (preferably in the form of a solution) or rotted manure will be useful.

At the end of the month, the flowering of fruit trees usually ends, the formation of ovaries begins. During this period, the saturation of the soil with moisture is of particular importance. If the weather is dry, then it is imperative to water and loosen the soil on new plantings and sowing beds, and in very hot weather - in the near-stem circles of adult plants. For the convenience of this operation, you can do the following. Take a metal tape 15 cm wide and about 2 m long (or decorative plastic), evenly go around the trunk circle and slightly bury it in the soil. It will be very convenient to pour water inside this circle, it will not spread. The dimensions of the ring must be compared with the dimensions of the tree. Such a ring will serve here for several years. Berry and ornamental bushes can be fenced in the same way. Now many people know that the acquisition of planting material is not a big problem. The main thing is to make the right choice from a large number of varieties of fruit and berry crops. Unfortunately, in pursuit of exotic varieties, gardeners sometimes forget that they take root better, do not get sick and bear fruit seedlings obtained not in overseas regions (even in the southern regions), but in local soil and climatic conditions. Spring planting and transplanting is carried out after thawing and warming up the soil, when the soil dries up, before the start of active budding and the formation of shoots. Usually this period, depending on the rise in positive temperatures, lasts only 10–20 days. In the middle zone of the Non-Black Earth Region, this period falls on the end of April - beginning of May.
  • preparation of plants for transplanting, associated with the selection of healthy planting material and the subsequent digging of seedlings
  • transportation to the site of planting on objects, temporary digging, if these are seedlings with a bare root system
  • preparation of the site for planting, including planning, cleaning, layout of seats
  • preparation of soil or plant land for replanting
  • digging holes, pits and trenches
  • planting plants.
  • Tree and shrub care
  • Digging land under trees and bushes.
If the soil is not fertile, sand, clay, at best, loam, so the first thing to do is to fill in fertile soil (with a layer of 12–20 cm).

The flower garden is one of the main elements of the decorative design of the personal plot. The measures for the creation of a flower garden are determined by its type and the peculiarities of the growth of the flower plants used in it.

In the spring they require a lot of attention and lilies... At the beginning of the growing season, when there is an increased growth of flowering shoots and roots, plants especially need nitrogen, during the budding period - nitrogen and potassium, and during budding - potassium and phosphorus. Therefore, in May, at the beginning of the growing season, lilies are fed.

  • Choosing a place for a decorative garden.
  • Formation of beds of the original form.
  • Planting seedlings or sowing vegetable seeds that have an interesting appearance.

Strawberries require especially careful care. Make sure that the soil on the strawberry plantation is loose and free of weeds. To preserve moisture reserves in the soil, mulch the ridges and aisles in a timely manner with mulch paper or other materials. It will also free you from weeding.

On the beds of strawberries with film frames during the flowering period, open the film for a day so that insects can freely visit the flowers.

It is useful to add wood ash or organic matter under the currant bushes and carefully mulch them. This will make it difficult for overwintered pests to get out of the soil and will serve as a good fertilizing for the plants. But it will be even safer to cover the soil under the bushes for a while with a film or other dense material - at a time when 3-4 leaves are already formed. This will significantly reduce the number of pests. If it is not possible to add organic matter directly under the bushes, then before flowering, each adult bush must be fed with two buckets of a solution of organic or mineral fertilizers. Young bushes are fed according to their size - about 0.5-1 buckets.

If young layers of currants and gooseberries are needed for reproduction, then after loosening the soil at the foot of the bushes, small grooves are made into which suitable branches (0.5-1 cm in diameter) are laid, fixed with hairpins and sprinkled with soil. At the end of summer, these will already be ready-made young seedlings of their own roots.

Under currant bushes that have a spreading shape, place supports or other fasteners for branches to protect the berries from contamination, improve conditions for berry ripening and facilitate soil cultivation under the bushes.

Considering that raspberries are very demanding on organic fertilizers, in May, after applying mineral fertilizers and lightly loosening the soil, add manure, compost or peat to the plantation in a layer of 10 cm in the form of mulch. Tie to a trellis
fruiting stems so that they do not lie down in the future under the weight of foliage and fruits.

As the young root suckers grow back, normalize them, cut out the weak ones, be sure to remove the shoots with a drooping top that are damaged by a raspberry fly.

It is more difficult to treat adult trees that have received sunburn and frost damage on the trunk and in the forks of skeletal branches. In May, they become noticeable by the changed color on the surface of the damaged area and the beginning of subsidence of the bark with the formation of cracks between the damaged and healthy tissues. Clean the dead areas with a sharp knife to healthy tissues and disinfect the surface with a solution of 5% copper or 8% ferrous sulfate. Then cover the wounds with petrolatum (it heals them well) or garden varnish.

Tie the wound on top with a film and make sure in the future so that it does not cut into the tree. These wounds heal slowly. Frozen trees need additional moisture in the soil and air, nutrition, aeration of the roots and protection from pests and diseases. Water the trees so that the soil is moist for a long time before flowering. Keep it loose and weed-free. If the leaves on the frozen trees are lighter than usual, apply a second nitrogen fertilization (a matchbox of urea for 10 liters of water), but do this no later than the end of May so that the growth of shoots does not drag out.

From kidney miteon black currants, colloidal sulfur (50 g per 10 l of water) or garlic-mustard infusion is effective, the recipe for which is given above. Against withgall midges, moth and sawflytreat blackcurrant and gooseberry bushes with infusions of insecticidal plants, and if available powdery mildew- infusion of half-rotted manure at the beginning of the onset of the disease, repeating the treatment in a week.

Vs caterpillars-leaf rollers, silkworms, mothsetc., treat trees with lipidocide (20-30 g), dendrobacillin (30-50 g per 10 l of water) at an average daily temperature of at least 18 ° C. Effectively fumigating trees by burning tobacco dust.

During the budding period on raspberries, mulch the soil under the bushes with peat or other materials with a layer of 5-7 cm, this will help get rid of raspberry gall midge... Vs raspberry beetle spray with an infusion of ash or herbal-garlic infusion (200 g of dry wormwood and marigolds, which are infused in 2-3 liters of water in separate vessels for 2 hours and 2 days, respectively, add 100 g of garlic pulp and bring the total volume of water to 10 liters ).

Very important - do not be late with spraying strawberries from raspberry-strawberry weevil, treat the plants with phytoverm as soon as round neat holes appear on the leaves (even before the peduncles extend). Against fungal diseasesapply phytosporin treatment. Use mechanical destruction of pests as well. During the budding and budding period, shake the apple trees apple blossom beetle on a litter smeared with a sticky substance, and destroy them by burning in a fire. Repeat this procedure at intervals of 3-4 days. Repeat the same on raspberries with raspberry beetle and flower beetle weevil.

With a massive accumulation of raspberry-strawberry weevils, spraying with karbofos is allowed (75 g per 10 liters of water) during the period when the peduncles begin to protrude (but not later).

Uproot and burn diseased bushes on berry fields. On red currants, pick off swollen leaves affected by red gall aphid.Bathe young shoots of fruit plants, on which aphids have appeared, in soapy water, in an infusion of garlic or tobacco.

Vs gray aphidspraying the soil under the strawberry bushes with potassium chloride (100 g) or infusion of ash (1-2 kg per 10 liters of water) will help. Vs anthracnose and spottedspraying with 1% Bordeaux liquid is recommended.

During flowering of currants, check the flowers for doubleness: lavender flowers with narrow accrete petals are a sign of the disease of the bush with doubleness. Uproot and burn diseased bushes.

Lighting plants in winter

Most thermophilic indoor plants are kept in a heated, light room (+18. + 22 ° С). Place light-loving species (pereski, episcia, American agave, aloe tree, chlorophytums) on the windowsill if it is not possible to organize an artificial lighting system.

Place cacti and other succulents near the glass. Shade-tolerant plants (ferns, aspidistra, monstera) can be left by the window on stands and tables.

Warm shower for indoor plants

To make indoor plants less sick and not affected by pests, give them a shower about once a month. It does not replace air humidification and spraying, which it is desirable to carry out during the heating season, but it perfectly complements them. Plants with wide, hard leaves can be easily watered with warm water by placing them in the bathtub. In specimens with sessile (without petioles) foliage, after sprinkling, be sure to remove water from the axils of the leaves with a paper napkin. Saintpaulias, episodes and other plants with delicate pubescent foliage should be washed so that water does not fall into the center of the outlet: tilt the pot and rinse each leaf separately under a stream of warm water.

Cool lovers

Ivy, tetrastigma, adeniums better endure winter in a cool room (+10. + 14 ° С).

Occasionally, as the topsoil dries up, they need to be watered, sprayed once a month, the soil surface should be mulched and periodically loosened. Cold-resistant crops (oleanders, fuchsias) overwinter well in a dry, ventilated basement (+2. + 6 ° С). Some of them lose their leaves for the winter. The soil in pots and tubs is rarely moistened, about once a month, in order to prevent the soil from completely drying out.

Works in June, what to do in the garden and vegetable garden

The main work in the garden and vegetable garden in June is aimed at creating an optimal environment for healthy plant development and obtaining a rich harvest.

In the garden this month, watering and feeding of fruit and berry crops is especially important. So that moisture evaporates less, after watering the soil is mulched.

It is advisable to finish planting fruit trees by this month. If previously planted trees and shrubs have gone too deep into the ground, then it is better to transplant them or carefully shake off the ground from the root collar.

Summer pruning is necessary for young trees - shoots are regularly shortened for proper healthy development.

If the stalks of raspberries suddenly begin to dry up, you need to urgently cut and burn the dried branches, leaving no stumps, so as not to further spread the purple spot.

At this time, cuttings (2-4 buds) of shrubs take root well. Layers of fruit shrubs pinned in spring for rooting should be watered regularly.

At the beginning of the month, a spider mite may appear on cucumbers, against which an infusion of garlic or a biological product Fitoverm is effective. Better to prevent this pest from appearing and spray the cucumbers even if they look healthy.

In the middle of the month, vegetable flies and cabbage butterflies become more active. You can save the crop by spraying the plants with Fitoverm.

In time, without waiting for sudden cold nights or rainy weather, carry out prophylaxis against late blight so that it does not destroy the crop of tomatoes and potatoes.

Flower garden

June is perfect for cutting ground cover perennials and ornamental shrubs (mock orange, roses, spirits, hydrangeas).

You can dig tulip and hyacinth bulbs from the ground if the leaves have already turned yellow. The bulbs are examined, cleaned of the ground, sorted and dried in a dark, ventilated place.

Faded roses are cut, regularly removing weak and growing inside the bush branches, but "blind" shoots that do not form buds are better to be shortened by 3-5 buds.

There is an effective way to kill mostly annual weeds in the spring before sowing or planting.

It is as follows: for the first time you need to dig up a garden bed or weed out a plot with the growing moon in the sign of Leo. Do this even if you think there are few weeds. The growing moon in the sign of Leo stimulates the germination of weed seeds. At this time, all weed seeds hatch, sprout, if they are "touched".

Each, even the weakest, weed seed will sprout and can be destroyed in the next weeding, which should be carried out with the waning moon in the sign of Capricorn. This will make it possible to destroy the weeds that have already sprouted from the seeds. Just one piece of advice: if you cannot carry out this weeding with the waning moon in the sign of Capricorn, then it is better not to start the first weeding: you will get bogged down in the weeds ... But if you carry out these two weeding in time, then your site will be free of weeds for a long time.

And, finally, in the fall, you should weed, loosen, dig in again after a while this area again with the waning moon. This is a very good preparation of the site for the next season.

That is, dig each bed three times.

  • The first time - in the spring on Leo's day with the growing moon.
  • The second time is in spring / summer on the day of Capricorn with the waning moon.
  • The third time - with the waning moon. The sign of the zodiac is no longer important.

But here it is important not to damage cultivated plants, as they will also die.

And an absolutely special time for weed control is June 18 until noon (12-13 hours). All the stems and all the weeds that your hoe touches will no longer grow and even their roots will rot.
